Orlando Pirates transfer news: Wayne Sandilands gets new role

Former Orlando Pirates veteran goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands has earned himself a new non-playing role at the club.

Former Orlando Pirates veteran goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands has earned himself a new non-playing role at the club.

Sandilands is now the new goalkeeper coach for the Pirates DStv Diski Challenge team after his contract was not renewed in July.

The 39-year-old is working hand-in-hand with head coach Joseph Makhanya who returned to Pirates over the past few weeks.

Sandilands has already been on the bench for the Pirates Diski team as he’s tasked with grooming the younger goalkeepers at the club.

On tthe other hand, Sandilands is also working his way up to becoming goalkeeper coach for the Pirates first team.

Wayne Sandilands is listed as a goalkeeper coach for Orlando Pirates Diski Challenge team.

WAYNE SANDILANDS GETS GOALKEEPER COACHING QUALIFICATION

Sandilands recently attended the FIFA Advanced Goalkeeper Coaching Course faciliated by the South African Football Association (SAFA).

And this was an indication that Sandilands was preparing for life after football as his chances of featuring regularly were close to non-existence.

He aattended the course alongside the likes of Itumeleng Khune, Shu-Aib Walters, Moeneeb Josephs and Thembalethu Moses.
