Thembinkosi Lorch has spent the better part of the last two years on the treatment table. In 2023, he’s also courted all sorts of unsavoury controversy off the pitch. In the 2023-24 campaign, he’s yet to make an appearance for the club in any competition in a squad that is now packed with quality in the final third. Last season he made just 12 appearances in the league, exactly 40% of the DStv Premiership season, and made just 15 league outings in the season before. Do you see a trend emerging? Monnapule Saleng scored 15 goals and supplied 11 assists in a sparkling 2022-23 campaign across all competitions. Whether or not the Bafana man sticks around for a couple more years is still up for debate but the Sea Robbers will be determined to keep him as long as possible. The point is, Lorch hasn’t been the main man for a while.
