Pirates’ Monare in a big mess after ball boy incident

Orlando Pirates midfielder Thabang Monare is in a big mess after he was involved in an ugly incident involving a ball boy as they faced Richards Bay.

Monare could be in further trouble after a ball-boy was allegedly slapped during Pirates DStv Premiership clash with Bay at King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday.

Phakaaathi reports that Monare is facing trouble at Pirates and following the incident, he was sent off for allegedly hitting a ball boy.

After he was sent off, he further argued with the referee in the latter stages of the game, while warming up in the Pirates’ dull draw against Kaitano Tembo’s side.

“What happened was uncalled for, especially for a player of Monare’s calibre,” a source told the football publication.

“He has been in the game for a very long time and to see him do that to that boy was just out of line from him.

“He is an experienced player, he is supposed to be a leader and should know better.”

It is also reported that the red card came after the former Jomo Cosmos and Bidvest Wits star and his teammate Sphepelo Baloni were busy having a squabble with the ball-boy for wasting time.

The ugly incident forced referee Jelly Chavani to intervene and eventually send Monare off.

RICHARDS BAY UNHAPPY WITH MONARE’S BEHAVIOUR ON THE BALL BOY

Moreover, it is mentioned that a medical team attended to the boy but the incident left their hosts, Richards Bay irked by what transpired.

The KZN-based club is said to be considering further action to be taken should there be no proper apology to the kid.

“The club is considering taking further action for the kid. He was not good at all on Saturday and they want a proper apology from Monare for what he did,” adds the source.

“If he doesn’t do that, then there might be further action. But I want to see if there will also be action from the Premier Soccer League (PSL) because that behaviour was just unacceptable and puts the league into disrepute.”
