ORLANDO PIRATES TEEN SENSATION KEEPS SHINING

Formerly known as Relebohile Ratomo, Orlando Pirates playmaker Relebohile Mofokeng’s rise to fame has been sudden. After a cameo in their opening-day defeat to Stellenbosch, the 18-year-old has been thrust into the starting lineup in four of the Sea Robbers’ last seven matches and made cameos in CAF Champions League qualifying and at the weekend against Stellenbosch in the MTN8 semi-final first leg win. He dazzled in a 4-2 win over Royal AM and their 5-0 rout of Sekhukhune and provided a superb assist for Bandile Shandu’s opener against Chippa a few weeks back. It’s clear that coach Jose Riveiro already trusts him in the big games, and that’s a huge compliment.

Mdu Shabalala unused for Kaizer Chiefs against Sundowns

Regular game time has been much harder to come by for Mduduzi Shabalala of late. The 19-year-old didn’t get onto the pitch against Sundowns on Saturday. He has been recently usurped in the first team by Tebogo Potsane and Pule Mmodi and faces a battle to get his place back.

Right now, Mofokeng is winning the Soweto battle between two of the region’s top young talents.
