A former Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City star has become a free-agent once again after parting ways with European side

A former Orlando Pirates striker is reportedly a free-agent after parting ways with Georgian side FC Gagra.

The 27-year-old striker joined Gagra at the beginning of the season however his stay lasted just six months after parting ways with the club in December 2023.

Shonga is now a free-agent and undoubtedly will attract interest from the PSL.

The Zambian star scored 19 goals and registered 18 assists for the likes of Orlando Pirates, Cape Town City, Sekhukhune United and Marumo Gallants.

Former Orlando Pirates man parts ways with European side

“Justin Shonga is now a free agent. He left FC Gagra after their league ended in December 2023.” an insider told FARPost.

“I mean, I don’t think the club and the country elevated Justin Shonga the way he anticipated. So that’s how leaving the club came about.

“You can expect him to find a team very soon because he’s a quality player who can add value in terms of goal contribution.”

In other news, Makhehlene Makhaula’s contract at Orlando Pirates comes to an end in June 2024.

The hard-tackling midfielder has struggled for game-time at the Buccaneers this season.

Makhaula has made just four substitute appearances for Orlando Pirates this season and, according to reports, the club are yet to decide if they’re going to trigger his contract extension clause or not!

“As far as I know, Makhaula is still an Orlando Pirates player. He has the option on the contract,” Makhehlene Makhaula’s agent, Sizwe Ntsangase, told iDiskiTimes.

“But I’d say whoever wants to speak about him, must contact the club.”
