Pirates star Mofokeng makes reserve team appearance

Relebohile Mofokeng took to the field for Orlando Pirates’ reserves in their victory over Golden Arrows on Saturday afternoon.

The former DStv Diski Challenge star has been busy with the first team since the end of last season.

However, the ongoing AFCON break meant Mofokeng got the chance to return to play alongside his peers in the reserve League.

First-half goals from Simphiwe Selepe, Lonwabo Magugwana and Relebohile Mofokeng were enough to seal a comfortable 3-0 victory for the junior Bucs.

The victory means Joseph Makhanya’s Orlando Pirates move three points clear atop the DStv Diski Challenge log standings after 14 games.

In other news, Makhehlene Makhaula’s contract at Orlando Pirates comes to an end in June 2024.

The hard-tackling midfielder has struggled for game-time at the Buccaneers this season.

Makhaula has made just four substitute appearances for the Buccaneers this season and, according to reports, the club are yet to decide if they’re going to trigger his contract extension clause or not!

“As far as I know, Makhaula is still an Orlando Pirates player. He has the option on the contract,” Makhehlene Makhaula’s agent, Sizwe Ntsangase, told iDiskiTimes.

“But I’d say whoever wants to speak about him, must contact the club.”
