Orlando Pirates star “underpaid” according to fans

This comes after the Bucs star appeared before the Randburg Magistrate’s Court last week where Magistrate Mkhasibe asked his lawyer, Pierre de Kock, to reveal personal information about him.

If the R50,000 monthly figure being quoted during Lorch’s trial is accurate, then he is vastly underpaid compared to a number of big stars in the PSL. Most marquee names at Sundowns, for starters, take a lot more than that home. Even their squad players probably out-earn Lorch. Observers on social media are shocked by that number. The 30-year-old Pirates wide player is awaiting sentence following a guilty verdict in June this year for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Fundiswa Nokuphiwa Mathithibala. The incident took place in September 2020.

When last did Lorch have a good game?

Either because of off-field controversies or persistent injuries, Thembinkosi Lorch has struggled to get any meaningful minutes under his belt. Also, let’s be real, even when he was fit and available, when last did he actually perform in an Orlando Pirates or Bafana Bafana jersey? We keep hearing he’s a key player and a “superstar” for the Buccaneers but is that even true anymore?

It’s strange to think that a player can at once be underpaid AND overrated, but that is seemingly exactly the case with Lorch.
