Orlando Pirates star Thembinkosi Lorch made his first appearance of the season in Friday’s Carling Knockout victory over Cape Town Spurs.

The Buccaneers earned a 2-0 win over their struggling opponents to book their place in the quarterfinals.

Jose Riveiro’s side were boosted by the return of their talismanic winger Thembinkosi Lorch who produced a Man of The Match performance.

It was Lorch’s first appearance for Orlando Pirates this season after being plagued by off-field and injury issues.

Orlando Pirates star Lorch opens up on difficult return

“First of all I would like to thank the man above for the talent for the talent and opportunity to showcase my talent. It was not easy for me not to be playing for a long time.” Lorch said following the match as quoted by Citizen.

“Especially since the guys were doing well, and it wasn’t easy to just come back and play. I want to thank the coach for the opportunity he gave me.”

But when you lose games like this, you’re always worried about what will happen at the end of the game.” – Molefi Ntseki said as quoted by FarPost after fans once again displayed their anger after losing.

Kaizer Chiefs are next in action on Saturday when they travel to face the high-flying Golden Arrows.

Orlando Pirates host AmaZulu on Tuesday night while Mamelodi Sundowns are back in African Football League action on Tuesday night as well.
