Deon Hotto is the surprising name at the top of the Orlando Pirates wage bill.

ORLANDO PIRATES TOP EARNERS

According to Briefly, the club’s earner is taking home R500,000 a month, information corroborated by salarypedia.co.za. Here goes, with all figures mentioned as monthly salaries:

  • 1. Deon Hotto: R500,000
  • 2. Kermit Erasmus: R350,000
  • 3. Richard Ofori: R300,000
  • 4. Evidence Makgopa: R200,000
  • 5. Fortune Makaringe: R185,000
  • 6. Vincent Pule: R170,000
  • 7. Innocent Maela: R150,000
  • 8. Thagang Monare: R150,000
  • 9. Zakhele Lepasa: R150,000
  • 10. Goodman Mosele: R150,000 (on-loan at Chippa).

For context, key central defender Olisa Ndah is collecting just R107,000 a month. Miguel Timm takes home R120,000. Would you say that the Pirates wage bill is a little distorted?

SIBISI SEES RED AGAINST THE DUBE BIRDS

Sibisi was dismissed in the 96th minute against Swallows as Pirates could only manage a 1-1 draw in the original Soweto Derby. There are also five Pirates players walking a tightrope. Bandile Shandu, Miguel Timm, Sipho Chaine, Tapelo Xoki and Thabang Monare are all one booking away from an automatic suspension. With Sibisi out, the Buccaneers are likely to deploy Tapelo Xoki and Olisa Ndah in the centre of defence. Can they get back to winning ways against an Arrows side unbeaten in their last three matches?

MOKWANA DISCUSSES CHIEFS AND PIRATES RUMOURS

“I don’t know anything about that because my agent has not said anything,” Mokwana told FARPost when probed on the rumours linking him with Chiefs and Pirates.

“So, I know nothing. All I am focused on is here at Sekhukhune, and we will see what happens going forward.

“It has always been my dream to play abroad.”

“I think I have improved a lot from my first season in the PSL and the coaches have been behind me. Telling me what to do and even the senior players have been guiding me. So it’s only helping me,” he added when asked about his progress as a DStv Premiership player. Mokwana is now a fully-fledged international with Bafana Bafana after starring in recent friendlies against Andorra and Algeria. He also came up with the assist for Sekhukhune’s winner in their weekend success over Orlando Pirates.
