Talk about irony. Nasreddine Nabi’s arrival could see Kaizer Chiefs top-earner replaced by an outgoing Orlando Pirates star.

Nasreddine Nabi is set to be announced as the new head coach of Kaizer Chiefs soon. In fact, an announcement is expected in the coming days with the Tunisian bidding farewell to his former club, AS FAR.

Interestingly, Nasreddine Nabi’s arrival could signal the end of a Chiefs fan-favourites time at Naturena. Ironically, he could be replaced by outgoing Pirates player who he faced off against in many Soweto derbies.

CHIEFS TOP-EARNER SET FOR LIKELY EXIT WITH PIRATES STAR LINKED

Itumeleng Khune was left behind when Chiefs jetted off to Turkey.

“However, it appears he’s not in the new technical team’s plans, and he’s also expressed a clear disinterest in coaching,” an insider stated on Phakaaati.

Meaning, Khune is likely to become Amakhosi’s SIXTH player departure. Ultimately. the long-standing and last standing Amakhosi legend still wants to continue playing. Also, he is not a part of the new technical team’s plans. Therefore, Khune is likely to leave Chiefs, as reported on The South African.

Meanwhile, Nabi has surprisingly been linked with outgoing Pirates goalkeeper, Richard Ofori.

“According to a reliable source, Ofori is one of the players that Nabi could look to lure as he will be making changes to the squad on his arrival,” the report read on SoccerLaduma.

NABI TO USHER IN THE NEW AMAKHOSI ERA

Nabi is expected to be announced as the new Chiefs head coach soon.

Therefore, the coaching revamp is underway with Amakhosi confirming the departure of these coaches. In fact, several of his technical team members have been spotted working with Amakhosi already. So, more coaching are in the firing line as they are set to be replaced.

Firstly, Fernando Da Cruz has been assessing the squad and managing the players in his absence. Meanwhile, goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi has essentially replaced one of the now former Chiefs coaches. Furthermore, his arrival will likely see another Amakhosi coach leave Naturena.

Additionally, SIX Chiefs players are heading out of Naturena under Nabi. Meanwhile, a red-hot of transfer targets have been lined up. Chiefs have identified a R200 million transfer target list featuring Percy Tau and several top Bafana Bafana stars and outgoing Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns players.
