Orlando Pirates wing-back Paseka Mako is recovering well in hospital from the head injury he suffered against Baroka on Tuesday night.

Orlando Pirates wing-back Paseka Mako is recovering well in hospital from the head injury he suffered against Baroka on Tuesday night.

Mako collided with teammate and goalkeeper Richard Ofori in the dying minutes of the goalless encounter after both players had gone for the same ball.

The speedy left-footer lost his consciousness for a few minutes but later regained it before being rushed to hospital by an ambulance.

On Wednesday, Pirates released a statement confirming that Mako was in a stable condition in High Care and that he would be assessed by the neurosurgeon.

“Following the emergency injury involving defender Paseka Mako in the DStv Premiership clash against Baroka FC last night, Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that the 28 year old is in a stable condition,” the club said in the statement.

“The doctor has revealed that CT scan results have shown no signs of skull fracture or any brain haemorrhage however, the player has sustained fracture to the face and nose. He will remain in High Care and will be assessed by the neurosurgeon again this morning.”

Now, Mako appears to be doing well, and the doctors have allowed visitors to come through and see the Pirates man.

One of the first players to see Mako was former Orlando Pirates and current Marumo Gallants attacker Mahlatse Makudubela.

Makudubela took to social media to share a picture of himself with the Bucs wing-back who is heavily bandaged.
