Orlando Pirates fans have had a fabulous week after beating Kaizer Chiefs last weekend, but life and football moves on.

Jose Riveiros side are aware that securing position two is far from certain, SuperSport United are only two points behind the Sea Robbers.

The fight for a CAF Champions League place continues this coming Saturday as Babino Noko visit the Orlando Stadium. The game is set for a 15:00 kick-off.

RIVEIRO CHALLENGES HIS PLAYERS

Meanwhile, the Pirates tactician has already begun to look ahead to next season’s bigger demands.

According to the ever-cool Spaniard, finishing second to advance to the CAF Champions League will provide the challenges he and his players deserve and desire.

“Because we are Orlando Pirates, and the next season, hopefully is going to be more busy,” the Pirates tactician said via FARPost.

“That’s the mentality that we need. We need to be ready to play every two or three days when the schedule is asking for that.

“It’s obviously not just playing but playing to win every two or three days. Thats our mandate or obligation.

“When you are playing for a big team and you want to find yourself in finals or fighting for titles. That’s the mentality you need to develop. Otherwise the rest of the time, you’ll need to take care of yourself. They like it, they like playing so much. As a coach I don’t mind having three days in between games. 

“If we want to play in Africa, this is a good test because it will happen frequently. It’s a good test, mentally and physically.

“Personally, I’m learning a lot from this. I am able to see the kind of training that is needed. Once we start the game, we think about what we need to do and the result,” Riveiro concluded.
