Orlando Pirates captain Innocent Maela has watched Relebohile Mofokeng transition from the reserve team to the senior side, what can he tell us about the young sensation?

INNONENT MAELA ON RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG

Reflecting on the 18-year-old’s star since his breakthrough last season, Maela has reminded Mofokeng’s fans that the Sharpville-born attacker shows perfect humility but is nowhere near the finished product on the pitch.

“First and foremost Mofokeng is a very humble boy… he’s very grounded,” Maela said via The Sowetan.

“When you talk to him, he listens and he listens to understand. So, I think that quality will take him very far. In terms of him being a star, well… he’s far from that, I’ll be honest with you,” Maela added.

“There’s still a lot of work that he needs to put in. He still has to improve on a lot of things and he acknowledges that. Yes, the fans love him but he needs to stay close to reality and focus on his game… and just block all the outside noise,” the 31-year-old skipper added.

In the meantime, the Sea Robbers’ coach Jose Riviero is training his team for the next league game.

Pirates will travel to KwaZulu Natal to face Richards Bay on Saturday, 25 November at 15:30.
