According to Jali’s agent, Mike Makaab, discussions between him and the Soweto giants did take place, but Pirates felt they had enough options in the number six role.

Asked by @TEEMAN_15 via Twitter, Makaab said: “Yes, we did, but understandably they felt that they were well covered in the 6 position, and we respect that.
