As The South African website reported on Friday night, the 33-year-old defensive midfielder was announced by the Dube Birds on a one-year deal that includes an option to renew.

According to Jali’s agent, Mike Makaab, discussions between him and the Soweto giants did take place, but Pirates felt they had enough options in the number six role.

Asked by @TEEMAN_15 via Twitter, Makaab said: “Yes, we did, but understandably they felt that they were well covered in the 6 position, and we respect that.
