Premier League side Wolves love what they have seen from Orlando Pirates starlet Relebohile Mofokeng, but there’s a complication.

Premier League side Wolves impressed with Mofokeng

According to SoccerLaduma sources, the Wolves technical team are happy with what they’ve seen so far from young Relebohile Mofokeng. They’re on the lookout for a young, creative midfielder and he fits the bill.

“Pirates have just received communication from Wolves that Rele (Mofokeng) is doing very well and they want to sign him. According to the information I have heard from the office they want to sign him for their U-23 side but while grooming him for the senior team” the SL source said.

“I don’t know how it will work with the work permit because in the UK you need to have played 75% of games for your national team. Unless maybe they will loan him out because he is only 18.”

ORLANDO PIRATES STAR MOFOKENG ON EPL TRIAL

18-year-old Relebohile Mofokeng made his first team debut at the back-end of 2022-23 and hasn’t looked back. The tricky talent has featured prominently again this season, with coach Jose Riveiro trusting him with three MTN8 appearances en route to defending the trophy.

Now, English Premier League side Wolves have taken note of Mofokeng’s trickery and ability to pick a final ball. According to SABC Sport, he is currently in England undergoing an assessment with the Birmingham-based side. It was earlier reported by the national broadcaster that he was with second-tier club Reading, but the news is even better than that and his range of options might have just increased.

MOFOKENG IS THE REAL DEAL

Mofokeng, formerly known as Relebohile Ratomo, emerged from the Transnet School of Excellence before moving to Pirates’ DStv Diski Challenge team. He’s become a mainstay under coach Jose Riveiro in the first-team.

“Riveiro on Wednesday afternoon, during the club’s Carling Knockout pre-match press conference in Parktown, Johannesburg, confirmed that the player is currently on trial at Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers FC,” SABC SPORT’s Nkululeko Dladla reported.
