Serial domestic cup winner Jose Riveiro has been tearing things up on the local scene with Orlando Pirates. How long will he stick around?

Orlando Pirates want more of Jose Riveiro

According to SoccerLaduma, Jose Riveiro is going nowhere after leading the Sea Robbers to more silverware.

“The coach has done well, and the management is pleased with the progress he has made. Those (reports on overseas interest) were just rumours. The parties have been happy with the working relationship and there isn’t any talk of potential changes at the moment. Yes, the league is an important trophy to go for but there is no reason to press the panic button. In fact, you can expect the club and the coach to engage over long-term plans,” the source said.

Double-double

Under Jose Riveiro, Pirates have won four domestic cup competitions. Their last two successes have come at the expense of South African champions Sundowns. The next frontier for Riveiro and his players is to mount a serious league title challenge and make progress in the CAF Champions League. However, what’s clear is that this group is more than capable of winning cups and performing in big matches.

MOFOKENG PROVES HIS WORTH AGAIN FOR ORLANDO PIRATES

A stunning winner in a cup final isn’t for everyone but Relebohile Mofokeng isn’t your everyday talent. Prominent football agent Mike Makaab took to X to praise the teenage attacking midfielder. Mofokeng was nearly ever-present in the league this term, making 26 appearances with three goals and five assists. The 19-year-old formed a strong partnership with Patrick Maswanganyi in a fluid attacking midfield system behind the clinical Tshegofatso Mabasa. Interestingly, Golden Boot winner Mabasa was left on the bench from the start against Sundowns with Evidence Makgopa preferred up top. That decision worked out well.
