Orlando Pirates make a decision on ex-Burnley striker already?

Orlando Pirates welcomed a former Burnley striker for assessments earlier this week and may have already made a decision.

Orlando Pirates are believed to be ready to go into the market for yet another striker in the off-season.

Pirates are believed to already be closing in on DRC striker Andy Boyeli but that doesn’t seem to be enough.

They’re also believed to be in the race for Ivorian striker Freddy Michael Kouablan, with archrivals Kaizer Chiefs. The club was already active in the recently concluded January transfer window. The likes of Thabiso Lebitso and Talent Mbatha were roped in by Pirates, who then saw Bienvenu Eva Nga released. Then perhaps, the biggest outgoing was that of club stalwart Thembinkosi Lorch. The playmaker shocked the local football fraternity by securing a deadline-day move to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

Just last week, it was rumoured that they’re monitoring veteran Swati goal machine Sabelo Ndzinisa. Earlier in the week, this publication reported that Pirates had welcomed former Burnley youth academy striker Tremaine Eastmond for assessments. Now according to the latest reports from Soccer-Laduma, they might have already made a decision on the player.

Pirates to pass up on Eastmond?

“The club (Pirates) is looking at adding more quality and experience up front in planning for next season and that’s why the player from Yanga (Stephane Aziz Ki) is being targeted. The club is impressed that Tshegofatso Mabasa has been on form since coming back from loan, while there are also guys like Evidence Makgopa and Zakhele Lepasa who did well earlier in the season. The guy from Spurs (Eastmond) could be one of those to be looked at for the future and not now,” said the source.

Forward line refresh?

It would be interesting to see if Eastmond will impress at Pirates. This especially since he was deemed not good enough by Cape Town Spurs who are relegation threatened. The Buccaneers are believed to be ready to overhaul their striking department at the end of the season. Zakhele Lepasa, Kermit Erasmus and Souaibou Marou are all thought to be heading for the exit door.
