Bucs fans will still be hurting after Thembinkosi Lorch’s switch to Sundowns, but the Buccaneers are keen to beat the Brazilians to a striker target and exact some type of revenge in the process. According to the latest reports, Congolese star striker Andy Boyeli is the player in question. According to Soccer-Laduma Boyeli is still a major target for Pirates.

“The talks between the two clubs are apparently in an advanced stage and why the deal didn’t happen in January is because it could have involved the international transfer clearances as well as a work permit. That’s why they moved the whole deal to the end of the season. They believe that by that time it will be ideal for the player (Boyeli) to move without hiccups and delays. So expect him to be at Pirates in the new season,” the source said.

Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana had their chances to beat Nigeria in the AFCON semi-final but failed to make them pay. Hugo Broos’ men could and possibly should have been over the hill and far away at halftime against the Super Eagles. The major culprit in that regard, and it’s awful to single out individuals, was Percy Tau. The Al Ahly man had two gilt-edged chances to score but hit one of his shots tamely into the arms of Stanley Nwabali and then when he raced through on goal moments later, a heavy first touch meant the Chippa goalkeeper could easily come and gather.
