Orlando Pirates: Lorch switches off from football when he’s injured

Orlando Pirates talisman Thembinkosi Lorch has revealed that he completely switches off from football whenever he’s injured.

And that helps him in stepping up his recovery and focusing on getting back while also allowing him to have time to himself and his family.

Lorch thanked the Pirates medical team for helping him recover from the shoulder injury that almost saw him miss the rest of the current campaign.
The other thing that Lorch believes helped him was to do extra work with his personal trainer everyday after coming back from the Pirates training.

“Every time when I get injured, I switch off from football. I think it helped me a lot to focus on other things, like my family and other stuff. But on the other hand, it helped me to focus on myself and come back strong,” Lorch explained to SABC Sport.
“I think the rehab was good and I’d like to thank the medical team for pushing me throughout the difficulty [of being out injured].”
“I was doing extra [work] with my fitness trainer. I was coming to training with Orlando Pirates and then later I would do extra with my personal trainer, so I think that helped me with my fitness,” he added.

The Nedbank Cup semi-final draw was conducted last weekend where Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates were pitted against each other.

The other semi-final will be between Stellenbosch FC and Sekhukhune United – whoever wins will play their first ever topflight final.
As reported by The South African website, the Soweto Derby will be played on 6 May at FNB Stadium. Kick-off is at 15:00.

The Stellenbosch FC vs Sekhukhune United match will be played at Danie Craven Stadium on Sunday, 7 May with kick-off at 18:00.
