Orlando Pirates legend ‘refuses’ to retire

Former Orlando Pirates defender Happy Jele has been without a club after cutting ties with Royal AM on 30 June 2023.

Former Orlando Pirates defender Happy Jele is still looking for a new team having parted ways with Royal AM.

The 37-year-old insists he is not ready to hang up his boots and call it a day.

After spending 16 years with Pirates, Jele left for Royal AM in 2022 but only made a handful of appearances before leaving the KwaZulu-Natal based club.

Speaking to FARPost, the Pirates legend availed himself.

“At this point and time, I’m still training on my own.

“If any team is willing to acquire my services, I’m still available. But about retiring, I will let you know when the time is right,” Jele added.

“I think so far is good. I’m trying to adjust on this outside football.

“It’s also teaching me how to deal with life when I decide to hang up my boots. So, it’s giving me channels to whatever I want to do,” said the former Pirates defender.

Jele did admit that he was adjusting life after football, having been clubless for over six months now.
