Orlando Pirates legend Jomo Sono believes South Africa has its very own ‘Yaya Toure’ in Bafana midfielder Siphephelo ‘Yaya’ Sithole.

Sithole, currently plying his trade in the Portuguese second division, has all of the abilities to be a world class midfielder.

According to Jomo, South Africans fail to fully appreciate the genius in Sithole due to his ‘simple’ nature. Take a look at what the Bafana icon had to say below.

Orlando Pirates legend sings praise of Bafana star

“There’s a central midfielder now I saw ku Bafana Bafana. He plays in the middle. A very good player.” – Jomo Sono said as quoted by FarPost.

“If he had stayed in South Africa, would he be playing for Bafana? No, he wouldn’t. I would select him for my team; he would be the first player in my team list. I don’t even know him. You can tell that he learnt a lot. He was coached properly where he was developed.”

In other news, Orlando Pirates legend Joseph Kamwendo believes he’s ready to coach in South Africa.

The former Buccaneers midfielder, who represented the club between 2007 and 2011, has confirmed his desire to coach in the Premier Soccer League.

Joseph Kamwendo has obtained his necessary coaching licences and is currently coaching back home in the Malawi top flight at Bangwe All Stars.

“Whether it’s as an assistant coach at a Premiership side or I can start as a head coach at a Motsepe Foundation side. I am well qualified to coach there.” Joseph Kamwendo told SoccerLaduma.

“I know and respect the requirements of coaching in South Africa. So I had to prepare myself first before saying I am ready for that.

“Now, I can say ‘I am ready’. I would be very happy if I can be given the chance at my former team Orlando Pirates but I wouldn’t mind coaching any other team.”
