Pirates boss Khoza sends clear message to Bafana coach
This doesn’t happen often if ever. Orlando Pirates and PSL chairman Irvin Khoza met Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos.

Orlando Pirates and Premier Soccer League chairman Irvin Khoza has left Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos content after a brief meeting.
HUGO BROSS MEETS ORLANDO PIRATES AND PSL CHAIRMAN IRVIN KHOZA
Bafana’s Broos has wanted to meet PSL coaches for some time now. The 71-year-old Belgian has now taken a step forward. He met the Pirates and the league’s leader when he was given a brief statement. According to Broos, Khoza said he could not speak on behalf of the league’s 16 coaches. Khoza said Broos would have to wait for the end of April.
“I had a meeting with Mr. Khoza but I understand what he said on that meeting,” Broos told journalists on Tuesday, as per iDiskiTimes.
“So it was not a long meeting. But he said, ‘Look, I’m just representing 16 professional teams. And I don’t want to have this discussion of this meeting only with you and me, I think is much better that other people are also there where we meet each other. Because I can’t, not on my own, take decision so for speak for them’.
“So we postponed the meeting. And we will have the meeting when I’m back after Easter in South Africa. So it will be at the end of April.
“So there is nothing more happened than that. And I could really understand his feelings about that. So we have the meeting at the end of April, and no problem at all,” Broos concluded on the Pirates and PSL bosss’s message.
MAKHEHENE MAKHAULA SAFE
Orlando Pirates star Makhehlene Makhaula is safe and sound. His club’s doctors have confirmed he suffered from shortness of breath.
The incident happened last Saturday during a Nedbank Cup last 16 game against Hungry Lions in Soweto. The score was 1-0 when Makhehleni made a clearance from his own box before hitting the ground. His Pirates teammates gathered around him before frantically yelling for medical personnel to attend Makhaula.
The Randfontein-born star was soon carried away with an oxygen tank before being taken to hospital and replaced by Thalente Mbatha as a substitute.
According to a new update from Pirates, the 34-year-old has recovered.
“Orlando Pirates can confirm that midfielder Makhehlene Makhaula has been given the all-clear to resume training in the coming days, following his early withdrawal from the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 fixture against Hungry Lions at Orlando Stadium,” the club said.
“The 34-year-old had to be stretchered off the field just before halftime on Saturday after complaining of chest pains and shortness of breath. He was treated by the Club’s medical team with assistance from the medics and promptly transferred to Milpark Hospital for further medical treatment.
“All necessary investigations have been conducted, and the player has since been discharged after consultation with a specialist. Makhaula is scheduled to return to training on Wednesday following an assessment from the Pirates Medical Team.
“The player has revealed that he has been given a few days to rest before he can rejoin his teammates.
“I have been ordered to rest and have been taking it easy,” he said. “The coach and the team doctor will advise on how quickly I can rejoin the team, but I’m feeling 100% and ready to go’” the Pirates statement concluded.
