In the end, Ndah’s move to Sassuolo ended up being just that, talks with an injury to the centre back thought to be the reason why the Italians did not seem to follow up on their interest. That meant that he stayed put at Pirates, giving their faithful more time to enjoy his ‘Rolls Royce’ style of defence, for at least another six months, which will see him finish a second season with the Soweto giants.

Should Sassuolo come back to knock on the Pirates door for Ndah again, it seems like the Buccaneers are intent on making sure that they are not caught with their pants down. During the January transfer window it was thought that they had lined up former player and now AmaZulu defender Abbubaker Mobara as their preferred option to replace the Nigerian international. According to the latest reports, it looks as if they have since switched their attentions to a new target.

Mwape a Pirates target?

“Siya sources have revealed that Tandi Mwape, who joined TP Mazembe in 2019, is believed to have surfaced on the radar of the Buccaneers.” Wrote Soccer-Laduma.

“ As far as I know, Pirates have been monitoring him (Mwape) and his progress. He is a very good central defender. He is a regular for both club and country and would fit very well into the Pirates system. I can’t say much on how and when he would be travelling to South Africa but let’s wait for the off-season then we can see what happens after” a source said to the same publication.
