Maswanganyi back, you say? But does he even start?

Orlando Pirates will feel bullish about their chances of reaching this season’s Nedbank Cup final with today’s news.

Chippa riddled by suspensions for Nedbank Cup semi

Azola Ntsabo, Baraka Majogoro & club captain Roscoe Pietersen are all suspended for the Chilli Boys, which is a huge blow for the hosts as if a semi-final against the defending champions wasn’t enough. Chippa is on a two-match losing streak after reverses against AmaZulu and Swallows. The winner here will meet the winner of Sundowns vs Stellenbosch in the final.

Maswanganyi returns for bristling Orlando Pirates

Jose Riveiro has a virtually clear bill of health with competition in all departments of the pitch. Against Cape Town City, the Sea Robbers were without Patrick Maswanganyi so they recalled Lesedi Kapinga in the number 10 role. Tshegofatso Mabasa continued his rich vein of goal-scoring form with another brace, taking him to 13 league strikes this term. Riveiro has the luxury of bringing Nkosinathi Sibisi, Katlego Otladisa, Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo, Evidence Makgopa and Karim Kimvudi off the bench in the Mother City. If that’s not an illustration of the riches he has, we’re not sure what is. Maswanganyi will return after suspension, so there are selection headaches all over the pitch for the Sea Robbers’ Spanish boss.
