Orlando Pirates fans to wait longer to see Boitumelo Radiopane? 

Orlando Pirates may look to delay the return of one of their academy players Boitumelo Radiopane who has been injured all season thus far.

Boitumelo Radiopane set to return to Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates fans have been waiting for the return of youngster Boitumelo Radiopane from his loan at Cape Town Spurs.

Radiopane has spent all season on loan to Cape Town Spurs from Pirates, but is yet to kick a ball due to injury.

The young striker suffered an ankle fracture during the Promotion/Relegation Playoffs while helping Spurs to the topflight. Radiopane’s six goals in 22 games in the second tier had already placed the Cape Town side in a good place to regain their topflight status. Pirates would’ve sent the player back there so that he can continue his momentum and gain experience at the highest level.

Unfortunately for both Pirates and Radiopane, he has not been able to gain that experience yet and according to Soccer-Laduma, that could delay Pirates plan to bring back the player to their first team plans. 

Pirates to delay Radiopane return?

“It’s a complex situation because when he (Radiopane) was sent on loan, the idea was for him to get regular game time and the experience at this level and the injury has been a setback. Look at the youngster from Chippa United (Azola Matrose), and he is in a similar situation, as he hasn’t played this season due to injury since coming back from loan,” said the source to the same publication.

Radiopane has already had a taste of first team football at Pirates, having made four appearance for the club during the 2021/22 season. He had earned his promotion to the senior side through some impressive performances for the club’s DStv Diski Challenge side. The Buccaneers faithful then started calling for his promotion before the team management duly obliged. Many were not happy when he got sent out on loan.

It is now looking increasingly likely that Radiopane might be sent out on another loan before returning to Pirates, unless he has a very impressive second half of the season with Spurs.
