Orlando Pirates could be dealt a huge blow with regards new striker target Chibuike Ohizu from Sekhukhune United according to the latest reports.
Ohizu’s name was recently raised as a new striker target for Pirates, with his recent impressive exploits for Sekhukune allowing him to catch the eye.
It hasn’t been just Pirates who Ohizu’s performances in the DStv Premiership have impressed, with the Nigerian’s agent also confirming that the player had attracted attention from clubs beyond the South African borders too. His agent confirmed that clubs from North Africa have been keeping tabs in him, even though it isn’t the very top clubs like Al Ahly and Zamalek.
Reports later this month, however, started to sound a more deflating tune for Pirates in their pursuit of Ohizu, however. Talk had began to emerge that started linking the powerfully built player with a new deal at Sekhukhune instead of a move, as it was believed that the club actually want to keep and build a project around the player’s talents.
Now recent reports from The Citizen have seemed to echo those sentiments, in what would sound like further bad news for Pirates. A source speaking to the publication confirmed that the player had a long-term contract at Sekhukhune, who have no intention to lose him. The source went on further to reveal what it would take for the club to part with one of their biggest assets.

“The reports that came out last week made some people really worried,” said the source on Ohizu’s links to Pirates
“Now, people have been checking contracts and they want to make sure that there are no loopholes in Ohizu’s because they don’t want to lose him. “We have to be honest, he is one of the best players in the team at the moment and no one will want to let a player like that just go, at least not for a small price. So, what I know is that anyone that really wants him will have to pay a lot of money for him,” concluded the source.
Ohizu is not the only striker Pirates are said to be targeting, as the club has been credited with showing interest in Royal AM and Bafana Bafana international Victor Letsoalo. It is said that Letsoalo, who will have just six-months left on his deal in January is seeking a move to Gauteng, with the likes of Kaizer Chiefs also interested.
