Orlando Pirates star Monnapule Saleng has been on the fringes this season. So much so, that the club is considering a loan exit for the wide attacker.

Orlando Pirates consider Saleng offers

According to SoccerLaduma, 25-year-old Saleng could be loaned out to get game time.

“The thing is he (Saleng) is not playing regularly this season and the club (Pirates) feels he needs to get some game time and rediscover his form. That’s why they want him to go out on loan. It’s not a finalised move yet because they are looking at a team or teams which would be interested in getting him on loan until the end of the season. Then when he comes back maybe he could rediscover his form. That’s why the team wants to send him out on loan,” said one source to the publication.

“I don’t think it’s the end of the road for him. He still has a contract with the club. His contract only expires in 2025 so they want to give him the chance to play and when he comes back he can fight for his place again. It’s just that now there are players who are doing better than him and those are the players playing ahead of him. The technical SuperSport team feels a United loan move will do well for him mainly looking ahead to next season,” said the source.

SALENG HAS DROPPED OFF FOR THE BUCCANEERS

Monnapule Saleng’s 15 goals and 11 assists from 30 appearances in 2022-23, a ludicrous output for a winger, feels like a long time ago. We felt it would be difficult to be matched and so it has proved. Saleng has been out of favour, out of form and as a result, he didn’t make the Bafana Bafana AFCON squad. His value was at its peak half a year ago and that was the perfect time to sell to a rich European bidder. There was interest from Odense in Denmark and Monaco in France’s Ligue 1 but all of that has cooled. Will the Pirates board regret their decision to keep hold of him until now?
