Orlando Pirates utility midfielder Fortune Makaringe has opened up on his revival at the club.

After starting the first game of the season, Makaringe fell down the pecking order at the club and had to wait 14 matches before he earned his next start.

The good news for Makaringe is that he has started three of his side’s last three matches. Take a look at what the former Maritzburg United star had to say regarding his impressive form below.

“You all can’t play at the same time. We need to give each other a chance. For me, it was my time to support players who were playing at the time, as much as they kept supporting me.” Makaringe told FARPost.

“Imagine the stress our coach has to have to have 35 good players. You can’t play them at the same time. So, it’s very important for us to know that we have a big goal that we are working towards which is to fight for everything that’s in store for us.

“So, we need one another and we need to take turns for each and everyone to come and help the team.”

“Now it’s 13 games in the league and we haven’t conceded a goal in open play, only in set pieces and transitions so far.” Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro said as quoted by Sowetan.

“More than the clean sheets, that tells you more about the level of commitment when we are not in possession. Obviously not conceding helps you to be close to win…one goal is usually enough for us to get maximum points.

“Even though we are an offensive team, when we lose the ball everybody is defending. To be honest, it is not an obsession. I am happy because there are people in the backroom who work very hard to make it possible, so it makes me feel happy for them.”
