ORLANDO PIRATES’ FORMER STAR DOUTIE RETIRES

Surely everyone has all noticed by now that modern sports science has helped professional players to play well beyond 30. Players in Europe are making it the new normal to knock on 30.

Locally, just look at the average age in the Mamelodi Sundowns team. It was therefore quite a surprise when the former Orlando Pirates, Ajax Cape Town, and Bidvest Wits winger Doutie announced his retirement from football at the age of 32.

“Goodbye to the beautiful game” the 32-year-old sent messages of gratitude to all of his former teams, as well as the junior and senior South African national teams as he called time on a 15-year-long professional career,” Doutie said in an official statement on his social media.

FORMER CHIEFS AND PIRATES COACH ERTUGRAL SHARES HIS COACHING PLANS

In other news, former Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, and Ajax Cape Town coach Muhsin Ertugral has revealed what’s coming up next for him.

Are you a big fan of Muhsin Ertugral and wondering if he is coming back to the DStv Premiership? It does not sound like it that will happen soon.

According to reports, the Turk-German is currently in Cape Town. This is after he ended his job working as a technical director with the Turkey national side, quality job hey?

So what’s next? Ertugral has said he is using this current period to catch some rest. He has however received offers abroad but it sounds likes nothing has struck his fancy.

“Yes we all left the FA,” Muhsin told Soccer Laduma.

“I am not looking at all at the moment and I think I have mention it before. As well on your big interview in December, I want to rest.”

“There are some interest from different countries, as well from Turkey,” he added. Full story here.
