Orlando Pirates announce five Bafana call-ups

Just how well are Orlando Pirates doing? Well, five players have been called-up by Hugo Broos to Bafana Bafana.

They say move to teams like Orlando Pirates if you dream of playing for Bafana Bafana. Two of the club’s new call national call-ups are new signings at Mayfair.

FIVE ORLANDO PIRATES MAKE BAFANA BAFANA SQUAD

As The South African website reported on Thursday, our national side coach Broos named his latest preliminary squad to battle Angola later this month.

The MTN8 finalists have since made and confirmed its own five players in the national side. The list includes Goodman Mosele, Innocent Maela, Zakhele Lepasa, Miguel Timm, and Nkosinathi Sibisi.

FULL STATEMENT FROM THE BUCCANEERS

“Five Orlando Pirates players have been named as part of a 30-man preliminary squad announced by South Africa coach Hugo Broos ahead of internationals against Mozambique and Angola,” Pirates confirmed.

“Bafana Bafana will be in action later this month in two friendly matches against the two nations, both taking place at Mbombela Stadium.

“On Thursday, the Belgian mentor shortlisted a squad of 30 players ahead of the fixtures, and included five Buccaneers in the list.

“Skipper Innocent Maela has been retained along with fellow defender Nkosinathi Sibisi as well as striker Zakhele Lepasa. 

“There are also call-ups for midfielder Miguel Timm, who has slotted in seamlessly in the Bucs lineup since joining from Marumo Gallants at the start of the season, while attacking midfielder Monnapule Saleng also gets a nod, having been impressive since debuting for the Club in October.

“The squad is set to be trimmed to 23 in the coming weeks, and all five Bucs players will look to form a part of the national team’s preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers kicking off in March.

“They will assemble for a national camp on Sunday 13 November, four days before the first friendly, which is against Mozambique in Mbombela.

“Bafana next take on Angola at the same venue, in a game kicking off on Sunday, 20 November,” the note concluded.
