Orlando Pirates future: Benni McCarthy, Cavin Johnson or Gavin Hunt?

Orlando Pirates look set to replace interim coaches Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids with Benni McCarthy, Cavin Johnson and Gavin Hunt presenting very strong options.

BENNI MCCARTHY

Benni McCarthy is the obvious choice, the perfect fit for the Bucs.

McCarthy is a Pirates legend and is currently available, the perfect man to step in and take charge. Pirates management want somebody who can bring discipline to this side, a trait McCarthy specialises in.

The Bucs and Bafana legend paid so much attention to fitness and discipline with AmaZulu and the results speak for themselves.

McCarthy brought a relegation threatened side into the CAF Champions League. Imagine what he can do with the depth available at his disposal in this squad.

CAVIN JOHNSON

Cavin Johnson is also available and he has experience alongside the legendary Pitso Mosimane.

Here is what Johnson had to say on the potential of coaching Pirates:

“I am honoured for my name to be mentioned around Chiefs and Pirates. I think I have the capability to work for such big teams…, It’s always difficult at this time of the season, it’s halfway through the season…most clubs are settled and many of them have 10 matches remaining. Some coaches will continue with their current contracts into next season, if Chiefs and Pirates do come around, I am sure I can make a difference.” Said Johnson to iDiski TV

Speaking of discipline, very few coaches are as structured and organised as Gavin Hunt. Kaizer Chiefs’ former head coach will bring the structure this side is lacking and he is available to do so.
