Matrose signed for Pirates ahead of the 2022-23 PSL season but he was immediately loaned back to Chippa United.

And one of the reasons for the loan deal was that he was still in matric, and Pirates wanted to afford him the chance to complete school.

Matrose now appears likely to be kept by Pirates for the new campaign unless Jose Riveiro decides otherwise before the closing of the transfer window.

As things stand, Pirates appear to have too many wingers having recently signed Lesedi Kapinga on a free transfer.

Since making his profesional debut two seasons ago, Matrose (20), has featured in 30 competitive matches and scored three goals.
