Orlando Pirates have continued their exodus ahead of the new season, with a seventh player shown the exit door.

Pirates had already released six players last month, doing so in five days with many expected to follow suit.

One of those players that has followed suit is Vincent Pule. A fan favourite, Pule had been at Pirates for six-years before being released on Tuesday. The player joined the club from the now defunct Bidvest Wits. Over the last couple of years, however, he has often struggled for fitness and with injuries over the last couple of seasons. That has inevitably reduced his involvement with the club drastically.

Pirates release Pule

It was then, perhaps, no surprise then that Pirates announced the release of Pule ahead of next season.

“After six wonderful years, Vincent Pule is leaving Orlando Pirates Football Club. The 32-year-old came here in 2018 from Bidvest Wits and immediately made an impact for the Mighty Buccaneers.During his time with the club, Vincent went on to record over 140 matches, including 35 goal contributions (goals and assists combined), to cement his legacy for the Soweto Giants. On behalf of the entire Orlando Pirates family, we would like to thank Vincent for everything he has done for this football club. A phenomenal player, who gave us incredible moments in the field of play while also displaying qualities of a model professional off it. Thank you, Vincent! Once Always” wrote a departure message to the left-footed wizard on the club’s website.

Seven now out

Pirates had initially released the duo of Sauoibou Marou and Fortune Makaringe. They were then swiftly followed by the exits of Richard Ofori, Kermit Erasmus, Siyabonga Mpontshane and Thabang Monare

Makaringe has already found a new home at Cape Town City, while Sekhukhune United are close to signing Monare. It still remains to be seen where the others, including Pule, end up.
