This comes after the latest reports have linked Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa with a move to Amazulu.

Mabasa to leave Swallows?

Mabasa, however, is currently with Swallows, where he started the season in promising fashion, having joined the Birds nest after an impressive COSAFA Cup for Bafana Bafana. He hit the ground running for the Dube Birds with some early goals, of which have since dried up as the team has encountered problems both on and off the field.

Off the field, the players have not been paid their salaries which has since them forfeit their last two fixtures of 2023. For Mabasa, this is a tricky situation as he not owned by Swallows and therefore doesn’t not have to stick around and compromise his career. It now seems as if Pirates are contemplating taking him out of the situation and using him in a swap deal with AmaZulu for Namibian left back Riaan Hanamub

Used in Hanamub swap deal with AmaZulu?

This is not the first time that Pirates are interested in Hanamub. You can recall they inquired about him at the start of the season but nothing really happened. Now with AmaZulu interested in Mabasa, Pirates want to use that as bait to get Hanamub from AmaZulu. It will all depend on what AmaZulu really wants to do at the end of the day because they are interested in Mabasa right now. So the swap deal would be on the cards. It will also depend whether money will be involved or just a player swap which is very rare,” said a source to Soccer-Laduma.
