Amakhosi were left without a coach this season following the sacking of Molefi Ntseki, after just four months in charge.

Cavin Johnson has taken temporary charge of the side as they look for Ntseki’s replacement and former Cape Town City and AmaZulu boss has emerged as a potential candidate, along with former Mamelodi Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane.

McCarthy is currently working as a striker coach with English Premier League side Manchester United.

Moore said on the TIFA podcast: “For me there’s only two South Africans who could take the job at Kaizer Chiefs – Pitso and Benni.

“Benni, because of his personality, because of the respect that players have for him, his ability to manage a locker room, his ability to call a game during a game-situation.

“But we’re talking about in Pitso and Benni, two very strong characters, and who want things done and want things done properly. Their tolerance levels are low for things that aren’t done properly.

“So again, is Kaizer Chiefs a 100% ready for that?”

Kaizer Chiefs are struggling down in 10th place in the DStv Premiership this season.

They have accumulated just 14 points in their 12 matches to date – and are already a yawning 10 points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and have played four more matches.

The Glamour Boys will next be in action away to Swallows on Sunday, 26 November.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
