Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be closing in on the appointment of Nasreddine Nabi as their head coach.

Nabi has emerged as an overwhelming favourite this week and it seems inevitable he’ll be Chiefs coach next season.

Although it seems like the deal is all but done, events between Nabi and Chiefs last season prove otherwise. The two parties were locked in to long and protracted negotiations, which were basically open to the public. With the expectation that they would eventually reach an agreement, everything fell apart. This was after the two camps failed to reach a compromise on one aspect for the deal.

Chiefs closing in on Nabi

It is believed that Nabi’s salary was not a problem, with the coaches final package agreed upon. But the sticking point was the number of backroom staff the Tunisian wanted to bring. Chiefs had offered just one assistant, while he keeps both Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard next to him. It is rumoured that the AS FAR coach wanted to replace Zwane and bring in his own fitness coach. In the end the deal fell through with neither party willing to budge.

This publication reported on Tuesday that Chiefs had sent a delegation to Rabat to try and convince him to sign. Now according to iDiski Times Nabi has issued two demands to that delegation and the club. It is thought that the mentor wants to hear what the Amakhosi project is, going forward. He is also seeking assurance that their current technical team will indeed make way, for his own.

He makes two early demands!

This publication had already reported that Chiefs were meeting with their technical staff last week Friday. It was also believed that part of the agenda was their job security. Goalkeeper consult Rainer Dinkelacker has all been confirmed as the first exit after Cavin Johnson

In news that Nabi will welcome, he is set to be joined by Sheppard, goalkeeper coach Aubrey Mathibe and fitness coach Bekhumuzi Maluleka. That’s one demand seemingly met, now will the delegation sell the project well enough?
