A rising star in his own right! Motjeka Madisha was on Saturday laid to rest almost two months after his tragic death.

At the time of his passing in December, Madisha was a regular member of Manqoba Mngqithi’s team and was also a full international with Bafana Bafana.

His sudden death sent shockwaves across the country, more so because it was soon after the passing away of one his teammates in Anele Ngcongca.

Here are the interesting facts about the late defender…

  1. Madisha was born on January 12, 1995, in Kempton Park although his family is from Ga-Madisha in Limpopo.
  2. He passed away exactly a month before his 26th birthday (December 12).
  3. Madisha’s sudden death came two days after the passing of teammate Anele Ngcongca.
  4. After spending years in the Sundowns development, Madisha was promoted to the first team in 2015 but was immediately loaned out to Highlands Park.
  5. Upon his return to Sundowns in 2016, he won seven major trophies with the Brazilians, including three league titles, Nedbank Cup, Telkom Knockout Cup, CAF Champions League, and the CAF Super Cup.
  6. Madisha passed away having not been red-carded for Sundowns.
  7. He picked up on nine yellow cards in his entire Sundowns career.
  8. He played 123 competitive matches – 15 of which came from the bench. He was only subbed off three times.
  9. Despite being a defender, Madisha scored six goals for the Tshwane giants.
  10. He made his Bafana Bafana debut in March 2018 against Angola.
  11. Madisha scored once in 12 Bafana Bafana matches.
  12. He also represented South Africa at the U2 level, scoring four goals in 10 games.
