Monnapule Saleng will NOT partner Cristiano Ronaldo next season

Orlando Pirates could be set to lose star player Monnapule Saleng, with reports suggesting he could be heading to Dubai in the UAE.

Saleng was the standout player in the DStv Premiership last season, starring for Orlando Pirates, which helped him catch the attention of Al Nasr SC.

Saleng has had an incredible rise to prominence from being one of the best players in the Motsepe Foundation Championship to being one of the best players in the topflight in just two seasons.

Before signing for Pirates, Saleng had grown a serious reputation as a lethal goal scorer for Free State Stars in the first division. The tricky right winger scored 13 goals in 29 league matches.

That then attracted the interest of Pirates who then loaned Saleng to Swallows FC, where he only managed two goals in the Nedbank Cup. It was then a major shock when new Buccaneers coach Jose Riveiro showed faith in the player and he soon repaid his faith. Saleng was sensational in the Sea Robbers’ run to the MTN8 trophy. He never looked back since, becoming a Bafana Bafana international in the process as national team coach Hugo Broos could no longer ignore his form.

In the end, Saleng amassed 26 goal contributions for Pirates in 30 appearances in all competitions last season, the type of form that would alert many teams.

Now, according to KickOff, Dubai-based side Al Nasr SC are believed to be one of the clubs that have been alerted to his talents. 

AL Nasr SC looking to sign Saleng from Pirates

“AL Nasr SC have taken notice and KickOff can confirm that the mega-rich side are in the process of preparing a sensational offer to tempt Saleng away from Pirates. The multi-million offer (with the figure being known to KickOff) will be related to the market value of players in the DStv Premiership. If that deal goes through, Saleng will also enjoy the benefits of tripling his current earnings from the package that he currently has at Pirates while enjoying the comforts of living in Dubai where the club is based,” Wrote the website.

It remains to be seen if there is any truth to these rumours and if Pirates would be willing to let Saleng go.
