Molefi Ntseki likely to get AXED by Chiefs before Christmas

May might just be too far for Ntseki and Kaizer Chiefs management given how fans reacted following Sunday’s defeat.

At this rate, it looks like Molefi Ntseki won’t last long to coach his first Soweto Derby game.

The 54-year-old coach has been under pressure ever since the 2023/24 DStv season kicked-off and Sunday’s defeat against TS Galaxy was his second successive league defeat.

The results see Amakhosi 11 points behind rivals Mamelodi Sundowns with just three games into the season. To be fair, Ntseki’s mandate was not to win the league but to make Chiefs competitive and bring back the winning culture the Glamour Boys were known for.

Ntseki could get the chop very soon

After four games in all competitions, the former Bafana Bafana coach has only managed to win once.

Following the conlusion of the Galaxy game, Chiefs fans made their frustration known by throwing missiles at Ntseki as he was walking down the tunnel. Ntseki had to be escorted by police and security personnel just like his predecessors.

May might just be too far for Kaizer Chiefs management given how fans reacted on Sunday at the Mbombela Stadium. Arthur Zwane was injured a few months ago when angry fans threw objects at him following the club’s loss to SuperSport United.

For Ntseki to buy time, he needs to somehow get his troops firing this season. Edson Castillo, Ranga Chivaviro, Yusuf Maart, and Mduduzi Mdantsane all need to fire up front and give Khosi some spark which has lacked this season so far. In their next two games, Chiefs play AmaZulu and Stellenbosch and should Ntseki win those two matches, he might buy himself enough time.

A win and a draw is still enough as that might ease Khosination somewhat.

Anything less than a win could see Kaizer Motaung unleashing his axe. Ntseki’s big test is against Sundowns in the semi-final of the MTN8. If he can somehow beat the Brazilians over two legs, then go on and win the final, he will go down as one of the most under-appreciated coaches this country has produced.

The only thing that can save Ntseki is reaching the final of the MTN8 or getting wins regularly going forward.
