Kaizer Chiefs head coach defends new signing

Sections of Amakhosi fans on social media don’t sound convinced by new signing Jasond Gonzalez and his ability to be clinical in front of goal. Chiefs drew 0-0 with Royal AM on Saturday despite having 18 shots. Only two of them hit the target.

“Firstly, he is a quality player, that is why the club brought him to play for the club and even when he came on against Sundowns I think he did a very good job,” Ntseki said post-match.

“He’s our point of reference, whether it’s a set plays or it’s combination play that we are we are deploying on the day, he’s that player. When we started the season Ranga was injured so we do not have any number nine that can always be that reference point, but I think for the past two weeks working with him, he’s a very enthusiastic type of player and he’s looking forward to being on the pitch and he’s got a very good personality, he connects very well with the players.

But I think it’s a work in progress for him because he still has to understand the league, he still has to understand the opponents in terms of applying himself properly. I think he had a very good game today it is just unfortunate for him not to have scored.”
