Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach issued a heartfelt apology to the Yellow Nation fans that gathered outside Loftus Versfeld following his side’s loss against Kaizer Chiefs this afternoon.
Masandawana’s 21-match DStv Premiership unbeaten run came to an abrupt halt at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday afternoon.
The Brazilians took an early lead through Gaston Sirino who showed great composure to bypass Itumeleng Khune however two goals in two second half minutes handed Kaizer Chiefs a perfect come-from-behind victory.
A Mosa Lebusa own goal followed by a well taken Dumisani Zuma goal ended Mamelodi Sundowns’ superb league run and Rhulani Mokwena issued his apologies in person to Masandawana fans.

“It’s not like all is lost. We still have the capacity to bounce back. A defeat like this wakes you up because it tells you that you are not invincible and it tells that you must always be cautious and focused in every match and give it your all.” Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi said following the match.
“At times when you don’t lose you feel you are entitled to win matches. And you don’t give your best. Had we got the second goal you know what we can do technically with the ball.”
The loss means one of Mamelodi Sundowns’ games-in-hand goes by without extending their lead atop the DStv Premiership standings.
Sundowns still hold a three point lead over closest rivals AmaZulu however the Brazilians have two games in hand as we approach the final sprint in the league title race.
The victory pushed Kaizer Chiefs back into the top eight with seven games to go for Gavin Hunt’s side.
