Sundowns cpach Rulani Mokwena admits he mad a mistake in the Swallows game.

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena admitted he made a mistake following his side’s 1-0 win over Moroka Swallows in the quarter-final of the MTN8 on Saturday afternoon.

Downs played almost the entire match with an extra man after Swallows captain Andile Jali was given a straight red card following a dangerous tackle on Teboho Mokoena in the first 10 minutes.

After the match, Mokwena said he put his players in the wrong positions after the red card but later rectified that after the first half.

“I made a big mistake, which I told the players at half-time,” he said on SuperSport TV.

“After they got the red card, I put two or three players in the wrong position, it didn’t work a little bit and I want to thank my players for accepting my mistake.

“We corrected it a little bit better in the second half and we corrected it and did a lot better in the second half,” Mokwena said.

Despite their numerical advantage, Sundowns failed to find the back of the net in the first half but a tactical change from Rulani inspired the Brazilians to immediately open the scoring in the first five minutes of the second half.

Mokwena admitted that the team played poorly because of his mistake

“Immediately after that red I also got a little but caught up in the situation and when I tried to take advantage of the things, I committed a mistake,” he said.
