Mamelodi Sundowns thumped Marumo Gallants 4-0 to maintain their unbeaten record to the start of the season on Sunday.

Mamelodi Sundowns thumped Marumo Gallants 4-0 to maintain their unbeaten record to the start of the season on Sunday.

Peter Shalulile scored twice while Themba Zwane and Pavol Safranko also got on the scoresheet on the night.

Sundowns had a flying start to the first half with Shalulile finding the back of the net early on but the flag was already up after a foul inside the Marumo Gallants box.

After a slow 20 minutes into the game, Themba Zwane fired Sundowns ahead with a sublime finish following a set up by Peter Shalulile from the edge of the box four minutes later.

Marumo Gallants then made a double substitution with Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo among those sacrificed with 10 minutes to go before the interval.

Neither side could create clear-cut goalscoring chances in the final 10 minutes, and it was Sundowns who went into the break leading by a goal-to-nil.

Reyaad Pieterse came out to claim a free-kick that was played into the Sundowns box as Marumo Gallants looked to exert themselves into the game after 49 minutes.

Shalulile made it 2-0 with a cheeky finish from a cross by Neo Maema as Sundowns appear to be unstopple after 78 minutes.

Sundowns were then 3-0 up with less than five minutes to go as Pavol Safranko fired home from a Washington Arubi spill.

Shalulile the made it 4-0 to Sundowns from a defence-splitting cross by Zwane on the edge of the box.

Ultimately, Sundowns were just too strong for Marumo Gallants on the day, and they maintain their top spot on the DStv Premiership log.
