Struggling Maritzburg United have parted ways with head coach Zipho Dlangalala.

The Team of Choice were relegated from the DStv Premiership at the end of last season and have been campaigning this term in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Ernst Middendorp started the previous season with the club, but he was replaced with John Maduka.

Fadlu Davids was then placed in charge as they ultimately lost their battle for top-flight survival.

Dlangalala was appointed to steer the club back into the DStv Premiership, but has parted ways with the club by mutual consent, with his team currently in seventh place in the 16-team log with 19 points thanks to five wins, four draws and four defeats in their 13 league matches to date.

They had won just one of their past six encounters, and most recently went down 3-1 at home against Pretoria Callies on Saturday.

A club statement read: “Maritzburg United Football Club and Head Coach, Zipho Diangalala have mutually agreed to part ways, effective 27 November 2023.

“This decision has been reached amicably and by mutual consent. Maritzburg United Football Club would like to express its appreciation to Coach Dlangalala for his dedication, hard work and contributions during his tenure with the club. The club wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours.

“The Football Club will commence the search for a new Head Coach and will provide updates as the process unfolds.”
