BREAKING: Maritzburg United part ways with John Maduka

Maritzburg United have officially announced the sacking of John Maduka as head coach and his entire backroom staff effective immediately.

Maduka’s future at Maritzburg United had been hanging in the balance for a while as the results were not forthcoming.

Under his leadership, the Team of Choice won just two of their first 13 league games, lost six and drew five.

As things stand, Maritzburg United are rooted at the bottom of the DStv Premiership log with just 11 points from those 13 games.

Maduka had joined Maritzburg United with high hopes after the wonderful job he did at Royal AM last season.

According to Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia, the club had appointed Maduka to improve the team’s performances and results.

However, the board felt Maduka had not been able to achieve that in the 13 matches in charge, and that the timing for his sacking was right.

Maritzburg United said the process of identifying Maduka’s replacement is underway, and that an announcement will be made once everything is finalised.

MARITZBURG UNITED DISMISS JOHN MADUKA AND BACKROOKM STAFF

Maritzburg United Football Club can confirm that Head Coach John Maduka has left the club with immediate effect.

The Club have also terminated the contracts of Maduka’s entire back room staff.

The Club would like to thank John and his technical team for their efforts and wish them well for the future.

Club Chairman, Mr Farook Kadodia said, “The board have taken this decision after a review of performances and results from the beginning of the season to date.”

“When we appointed John at the beginning of the season, the mandate and objective was to see an improvement in performances and results which however have not been achieved despite everyone’s best efforts and we believe that with the upcoming Fifa World Cup break, the timing is right to make these changes now.”

The process of identifying and appointing a new Head Coach is underway and the club will make an announcement in due course.
