Nassir was first reported to be the subject of interest from Chiefs and Pirates, with both Soweto giants thought to be ready for a tug-of-war but Sundowns seem to have joined them.
Chiefs and Pirates reported to have shown interest last month
The South African News had previously reported last month that Chiefs and Pirates had registered an interest in the player and had made contact with Nassir’s representatives. The 21-year-old was thought to have impressed both South African football giants during Bafana Bafana’s back-to-back 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against his native Ethiopia.

Nassir particularly stood out in the game where Bafana Bafana took on Ethiopia in Addis Ababa. Now with the latest reports, it seems as if it wasn’t just Chiefs and Pirates watching him, but the current DStv Premiership log leaders Sundowns too.
Amakhosi said to be the keenest
According to Soccer-Laduma it was in fact Chiefs who were seemingly the most interested in Nassir, with the Amakhosi registering the first interest in the player. At some point, it was established that the black and white side of Soweto in Pirates, was not going to take the matter lying down and register their own interest in the player. Sundowns are now the latest South African giant to put their hand up in the battle to acquire his signature.

Last season, Nassir cleaned house at the Ethiopian Premier League end of season awards. The Ethiopia Coffee star, netted a record breaking 22 league goals for the club which earned him the leagues MVP award, The Young Player of the Season as well as the Leagues top goal scorer award. With those accolades it is not hard to see why all of Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns are reportedly after his services.
Sundowns have now entered the race
The same publication now claims that sources have told them that Sundowns have joined the race for Nassir. There could be a stumbling block, that could favour Sundowns over both Chiefs and Pirates however. Nassir recently signed a new five-year extension with Coffee which will undoubtedly put them in the driving seat for any potential negotiations,
That could mean that Coffee will demand a hefty fee for Nassir, which has never been known to deter Sundowns. Would Chiefs and Pirates be willing to spend big? Watch the space
