Former Kaizer Chiefs frontman, Knowledge Musona could be headed back to South Africa in the colours of reigning league champions Mamelodi Sundowns, according to reports.

The Zimbabwean international is in the books of Belgian giants Anderlecht, where he has barely seen any action.

Mamelodi Sundowns move for Knowledge Musona

As reported by TimesLivehe could be set for another spell in the PSL, this time with the Tshwane giants lying in wait as the striker is said to soon part ways with the one-time Uefa Cup winners.

According to the publication, Sundowns have made an attractive enough offer for Musona, who is eager to make the move.

The 29-year-old could plug the gap left by former Bafana striker Tokelo Rantie, who recently went AWOL after just months at the club.

This has left them thin in the striking department, with only Uruguayan, Mauricio Affonso and Venezeulen frontman, Jose Ali Meza, and Lebohang Maboe the only fit first-team options in the position.

The trio have only bagged a collective three league goals so far in the season, shared evenly between them.

Coach Pitso Mosimane has recently expressed the need to reinforce the team’s attack, hinting at two potential January signings, with at least one already identified.

“We need an attacker, somebody who can help us score goals because when Mauricio [Affonso] isn’t there, we don’t have a No 9. Lebo [Maboe] is a No 9, but he hasn’t been on top form, which is why we play Vila [Sibusiso Vilakazi] there and Ali Meza who likes to play on the side,” he was quoted by IOL.

“I don’t want to be going to Thapelo [Morena] and ask them to play there. I don’t think it’s right.

“The second one is going to be another attacker. We need to reinforce a little bit upfront, maybe a winger. If he is a winger, he must be a powerful winger and be a little bit better than Pitso (Siphelele Mkhulise).

“He must have presence. We are on top of somebody. A very good player, but he doesn’t play here. He is a foreigner.”

Since signing for Anderlecht ahead of the 2018/19 season, Musona has made just 14 league appearances, with six coming during a brief loan spell at KSC Lokeren.

Since the start of the ongoing campaign, he has only seen action with the team’s reserves, where he has scored in his only appearance.

At Chiefs, he had two successful stints, bagging 40 goals in 88 appearances across competition.
