Following his superb brace against CR Belouizdad of Algeria in a CAF Champions League quarter-final last Saturday, the 29-year-old from Windhoek marked 100 goals in all club competitions.

The event left Shalulile needing 24 more goals to surpass Nomvethe’s all-time record of 124, and 11 more to overtake the likes of Collins Mbesuma and Daniel Mudau.

According to the former Highlands Park number nine, his coach Rhulani Mokwena regularly drums one key message to him: stay in the kitchen.

“Coach Rulani [Mokwena] always tells me to stay in the box. The secret for being a good striker is to stay in the box. In the kitchen. And then when the ball comes you are there,” said Shalulile via FARPost.

The Sundowns striker concluded to reveal that the recent slump required nothing but patience.

“…We have been patient, no goal for quite a long time as a team but with patience it paid off.

“But for me, these [milestones] are just rewards and motivation to go on and score more goals,” the Sundowns star added.
