Mamelodi Sundowns legend John Tlale has urged Ricardo Goss not to return to the Brazilians to compete with Ronwen Williams.

Goss spent last season out on loan at neighbours SuperSport United, where he made 24-appearances for Gavin Hunt’s side.

While the loan deal was two-seasons long, the club may be tempted to recall Goss as back-up to Williams following a solid campaign at SuperSport.

Goss accumulated 10 cleansheets while conceding just 17 goals at Matsatsantsa.

Tlale has since explained why it is of utmost importance that Goss spends next season away from Chloorkop.

Mamelodi Sundowns legend urges Goss to go out on loan again

“I think Goss needs to play regularly because it gives him the opportunity to make the national team,” Tlale told Citizen.

“If he goes back to Sundowns, he will be on the bench because Ronwen is one player who played all the games except when he was rested. So I would remain at SuperSport if I was him to also keep my confidence up.

“It affects your performance when you don’t play. When the time is right, Goss will get his chance. (thereader.com) It’s also good for the national team when all the top keepers are playing regularly.

“Because in my time, we never had goalkeeper problems. We had me, Andre Arendse, Brian Baloyi and Simon Gopane all competing to play for Bafana Bafana.”

The Mozambican winger, currently on the books of Al Ahly, was sent out on loan to Saudi Arabia’s Abha FC.

Miquissone made just four appearances for Abha before abruptly leaving the club before season concluded.

The latest reports suggest the former Simba attacker is not keen on returning to Al Ahly, or being loaned out for the remainder of his contract which ends in June 2024.

“The 27-year-old has been training with his former club UD Songo for the past two months and is now due to head back to Egypt for talks on the way forward.” a Kick-Off report read regarding the former Mamelodi Sundowns man.

KickOff can disclose that while his former club Simba are interested the intention is to continue in the Middle East with one Saudi second-tier league club keen to bring him on board.

“Miquissone still has a running contract with Al Ahly and is not keen on another loan move as he prefers a permanent switch if the Egyptians have no intention to retain him.”
