Mamelodi Sundowns are facing a foreign quota conundrum ahead of the new season following their latest signings.

On Tuesday, Moroccan side SCC Mohammedia confirmed that defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil will be joining Sundowns.

And Boutouil arrives at the same time as Ethiopian striker Abubeker Nassir who was signed in January but loaned back to his club Ethiopian Coffee.

This brings the number of Sundowns signings to three in this transfer window following the arrival of Sipho Mbule from SuperSport United.

But of course, the foreign quota conundrum has nothing to do with Mbule as he’s a South African.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS HAVE A BIG CALL TO MAKE ON THEIR FOREIGN QUOTA

Now, with the addition of Boutouil and Nassir, Sundowns have SEVEN foreign internationals on their books, and they need to decide which five should registered with the PSL.

And that would mean letting go of two foreign internationals either on loan or permanently, meaning the technical team and management have a big decision to make.

As things stand, the five foreign internationals who were registered for last season are Gaston Sirino, Pavol Safranko, Erwin Saavedra, Peter Shalulile, and Divine Lunga.

And all the abovementioned remain part of the Sundowns squad – meaning two must go to accomodate both Boutouil and Nassir.

There is also a possibility that Sundowns could add one more foreign international in Marcelo Iván Allende Bravo who hails from Chile.
